Dear Friend,
As a member of the Body of Christ, God has us on earth as a part of His plan and purpose. The plan that He is working out is to give every human being the opportunity to hear the Gospel of Jesus Christ and receive eternal life to live with Him throughout eternity. The Bible is full of evidence that His method to finance that work is through tithes and offerings from His people.
Tithing, in particular, is a God-given principle with no human origin as its source. It was before the Law given to Moses, confirmed in the Law, and exists in the New Testament after the Law (Genesis 14:18-20; Genesis 28:22; Leviticus 27:30; Hebrews 7:8.)
Should Christians tithe today? Yes, but in the right spirit, motive, and attitude.
We tithe like Abraham tithed (Genesis 14:18) as an acknowledgement that God is the source of all of our victories and blessings. We tithe like Jacob tithed (Genesis 28:22) because we have been blessed, not to be blessed. We tithe as a partaker of Jesus’ High Priestly ministry (Hebrews 7:8) who is the administrator of the blessing of the Lord. We should not give out of fear, but in faith. Our giving should not be forced or grudgingly, but out of a heart full of love for God. We tithe as an expression of thankfulness, gratitude, and honor to all God has given us.
I call you blessed!
